Summer 2023 Recap
For many of us, summer kicked off with the OVDBA cattle show in Lebanon, OH. We enjoyed a memorable weekend with each other while showing our cattle. After the cows paraded their costumes, the judges judged, the prizes and awards were received, and the OVDBA birthday cake was consumed, we were left with one question:
Did Kathy Chaney win the nerf gun war??
For some, it was on to the ADCA National Expo in Salt Lake City. For others, it was showing at the county fair. Some traveled this summer while others stayed close to the homestead. Some were eaten up by mosquitoes while watching the sunset at Antelope Island in Utah while others watched fireflies flicker in the night sky while camping out in the backyard. Regardless of how the summer was spent, we will probably all agree that it passed entirely too quickly! The important part is that it included making lasting memories together.
While we still have a few days of summer ahead of us, take time out from milking the cow and stacking the hay to enjoy what it’s all about: the smell of fresh cut hay, warm sunshine on our faces, healthy cows in the pasture, and cookouts with juicy Dexter steaks!
I’d love to hear about your summer! Email me at OVDBAyouth@gmail.com with your comments, questions, or suggestions! You never know, your submissions might make the next MOOSletter!
